The MDOT Safety Commission has been hard at work the last several years working to make safety a goal and not just a priority at MDOT. To kick-off 2025, they're pleased to announce the third annual MDOT Safety Awards as an opportunity for members of Team MDOT to recognize coworkers, teams, projects and/or programs that focus on safety.

Nominations are available in four categories:
  • Safety Hero: An employee who had gone above and beyond.
  • Safety Leader: An employee who exhibits safety leadership in their position.
  • Safety First: How is safety being implemented into projects making it safer for employees?
  • Safety Champion: An employee who takes the initiative to help, report, raise awareness or assists other employees or customers in need with Occupational Safety and Health matters and potential hazards.

Each category has a list of criteria that will be evaluated when the MDOT Safety Commission reviews submissions. We encourage all modes to submit nominations for each award. Nominations are due no later than April 11, 2025. Award winners will be announced at the MDOT Safety Fair (more information about the event will be coming soon).
